Google Launches Spreadsheets on a Limited Trial Basis

I just got an invite to try out the Google spreadsheet beta. I have attached a screenshot for the same. You can sign up for the great online app here Hurry! this is a limited availability signup on a first-come-first-served basis.

Google spreadsheets works quite seemlessly and there was no noticeable lags in-between editing, and the multi-user editing is great. The look and feel is that of Excel, but Google-branded and webified. There are less icons, less menu entries, and there is also only the most needed functionality. Your files can be exported into several formats (Excel, CSV, and HTML).

After Google announced aquisition of Writely, a web based Word processing applications company, it is clear that the Google Office is clearly becoming a reality. Great news for online afficianados and at the end of it all, it is the consumer who is the winner.
