Winchester Drives - The history

The other day at Fry's looking for an external hard drive, the elderly sales guy kept calling it a winchester drive. I came home, googled the word and here is an interesting piece of info - "The original IBM-PCs, that had hard drives, referred to the hard drives as Winchester drives. This is due to the fact that the original Winchester drive had a model number of 3030. This, of course, was a then famous Winchester rifle called the thirty thirty."
