Apple cherry picking cool tech from its AppStore

Technology companies have for ages used the community to further their innovations and bring new technologies back into products. Eg RedHat/Fedora, OpenSolaris/S10 etc.

Now Apple has started the same albeit using their paid AppStore for that. They just picked up Siri a voice search app company to counter Google Android's voice search feature.

The App Store has a lot of upsides for Apple. Not only does Apple make a lot of money off of it, but it also lets developers do the heavy lifting for features that don't come on the phone by default, and then Apple can just cherry-pick the best of them to integrate into future products. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
